How do I control my school's placement test settings?
The Placement Centre is both adaptive and repetitive. The Teacher account with the School Administrator access rights can take control and adjust the Repetitive Placement Settings.
To adjust the Repetitive Placement Test Settings:
- Choose Placement Test Settings from the Placement Tests heading.
- Click and drag the Control Knob to change the value of the Placement Test Scale. If you would like a more vigorous test, you can choose 2 otherwise, 1 would be a good starting point. A setting of 2 means that students are required to take two placement tests of the same placement level before the Placement Centre adaptively decides whether the students are required to maintain, move up or move down a placement level.
- Click Submit.
Please note: As defined by the Placement Centre, a student's suitable reading level will be reached when they achieve a 50% to 90% correct response rate. If a student achieves less than a 50% correct response rate on the placement test, the Placement Centre will automatically and adaptively move down one placement level until a recommended reading level is reached. If a student achieves between a 50% to 90% correct response rate, they will be placed at the current placement level. If a student performs exceedingly well and achieves more than 90% correct response rate, the student will continue to move up one placement level until a recommended reading level is reached.
