Why is a student who has completed 4 placement tests still noted as "in progress" when those who have completed 3 are "maintaining".

There will be times when the placement test results were inconclusive noted as 'in progress', therefore it requires the students to take more placement tests to determine a suitable reading level. And as each students' reading capability is different, it will take different amounts of time for each one of them to complete.

If the students could not complete the placement test within the class period. They can stop and resume the placement test at anytime again.

Additionally, if your students were to have a problem in attaining a reading level. You may directly assign them to a reading level. Below is the link to do so.
