Add a New Student

Please note: Only a School Administrator is able to add students.

This option allows you to add a new student or multiple students.

ADD NEW STUDENT

Classroom Details

• Choose the classroom(s).
• Click the Submit button.

Student Details

• Enter the details for that student: Account Type, First Name, Last Name, Year of Birth and Gender (M for Male, F for Female or NB for Non-binary). Upload the student's Profile Image if desired.
• You may also fill in the non-mandatory Student Unique Identifier if your school requires data cross-referencing with CARS & STARS Online and/or to add multiple students with similar names in your school (e.g., John Alex and John Alexis), the Student Unique Identifier should be provided. This could be the student ID from a school management system (Schoology, Sentral, Schoolbox or Canvas), student DET/DoE email address or a school-issued student ID (non-government). 
• There are several Account Types that you can choose from: Subscription Account, Trial Account or Virtual Account.
• Please note the following:
• Subscription Account is for an annual subscription account.
• Trial Account is for a 30-day free trial.
• Virtual Account is for a virtual student that is intended to be created for manual assessment data entry only, which means a virtual student is unable to login to the student portal themselves. This type of account is used when a student is using the printed version of CARS and STARS, but their teacher is entering their assessment results into the program directly.
• Under Subscription Type, choose CARS & STARS or FOCUS Reading or CARS & STARS + FOCUS READING, and the duration of the subscription. There are 3-, 6- and 12-month subscriptions available.
• Once you have added a student using the Subscription Account option, it will deduct one Student Subscription from your school's account.
• Click the Submit button.

ADD MULTIPLE STUDENTS

Please note: The Quick Add functionality is not available for tablets and mobile devices.

If you wish to add a bulk number of students, using ADD MULTIPLE STUDENTS will help you achieve that quickly.

Classroom Details

• Choose the classroom(s).
• Click the Submit button.

Student Form

• Select the Account Type. Under Subscription Type, choose CARS & STARS or FOCUS Reading or CARS & STARS + FOCUS READING, and the duration of the subscription. There are 3-, 6- and 12-month subscriptions available.

• Enter number of students that you wish to add.

• Enter each student's First Name, Last Name, Year of Birth and Gender (M for Male, F for Female or NB for Non-binary).

• You may also fill in the non-mandatory Student Unique Identifier for each student if your school requires data cross-referencing with CARS & STARS Online and/or to add multiple students with similar names in your school (e.g., John Alex and John Alexis), the Student Unique Identifier should be provided. This could be the student ID from a school management system (Schoology, Sentral, Schoolbox or Canvas), student DET/DoE email address or a school-issued student ID (non-government). 

• If you wish to add more students, you can either click on the 'plus symbol' button to add another student or change the Number of Students field.

• If you wish to remove a student click the 'cross symbol' button to delete them. When deleting a student, please remove all the data in the input fields before removal.

• Click the Submit button.

Please note: A Student Subscription will be deducted from your school account once you have added the students using the Subscription Account (SA) option.
